Two Florentines, one workshop on the wrong side of the Arno and a dislike of clothes that get in the way.
Marco Bonafetti grew up above his grandfather's tailoring workshop in Prato, among bolts of wool and chalk stripes. Pina de Silva studied fashion design at Polimoda in Florence and spent years as a buyer for major Italian houses. They met in 2009 at Pitti Uomo, where they were both complaining about the same thing: menswear was either stiff and expensive, or cheap and soulless.
In 2011 they rented a small workshop in the Oltrarno, the artisan quarter on the south bank of the Arno. Marco cut the patterns, Pina chose the fabrics. The first collection had twelve pieces: linen shirts, an unlined blazer and a suede jacket that is still in the collection today.
“We make clothes for men who want to look good, without it showing that they tried.”
Marco Bonafetti, co-founder
Beautiful fabrics, honest prices. We work with mills and ateliers in Tuscany, the Marche and Biella. Because we design ourselves and sell directly, our prices stay reasonable.
Clothes that last. Not ten collections a year, but two seasons and a core of essentials that return every year.
Relaxed, never sloppy. Soft shoulders, no lining where none is needed, pleats for freedom of movement. Italian elegance, but lived in.
